SOLD - BERRY
This is a super cute one folks! Sweet little quarter horse mare that would adore her own person. Berry is vet estimated to be 12-14 years old. She's had the basics done with her and she's very lovable, straight-shooting, and smart. Exactly 14.2hh tall on the dot! She is stocky and full of character. She is grade to my knowledge but built like a true QH.
A lot of her past is unknown, when she came, she was underweight, had diarrhea, a cold and no muscle. She has come so far and still has a little way to go but is transforming beautifully. My vet recommends just letting her get fat and happy before working on her but sees no reason why she couldn’t be an excellent low-level horse. As for her feet, she is barefoot and farrier says that she had foundered in the past, and it will take a few months to grow out, but is right on track in that aspect too! Other than that, as far to my knowledge, she is healthy as a horse (lol). Never been unsound or had a medical issue in the few months I’ve had her.
She's the type of mare that doesn’t worry you about vet bills in the pasture. She very playful and entertaining with her people but doesn’t care very much about other horses and doesn’t act like a fool turned out. She's currently pasturing in a large group herd with all shapes and sizes and does great. She keeps to herself and makes no drama, but can hold her ground well. Unfortunately, Berry isn't a very easy keeper at least not now, but I feel like once she gains some extra pounds, she will be one of those who gets fat on air. Leads, trailers, ties, stalls if needed, lunges, good barefoot feet, & saddles. I don’t know how she loads as my trailer is at my other place, but she unloads fantastic and is unfazed in new places.
We've been letting her recover and gain weight more before we put her in our own training to ride. We have ridden her twice, and she seemed uncomfortable. Like I said, the vet recommended time to get her adjusted and healthy. I am advertising her as a pure project undersaddle, and I am happy to go into that further to interested buyers.
Nothing really bothers her at all, and she is anything but spooky. You can clamber all over her and nothing fazes her. I think she can make a fun project for someone who knows what they are doing!
